Communications & Privacy Policies: As I focus on remaining present for my clients in session, I am not always immediately available by phone or email. Email is my preferred form of communication for new client inquiries, and Simple Practice direct messenger is my preferred form of communication for existing clients. If I miss your call, please leave a voicemail. I will do my best to get back to your email or voicemail within 24 hours.

However, I am not a crisis counselor. That means I am not available outside of our session times for urgent phone or text therapy. If you are having a mental health emergency, please call 911 or 988, or go immediately to your nearest emergency room. Visit my resources tab for more information on local and national emergency resources.

In order to protect your confidentiality, I do not accept social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) requests from any clients or their family members on any of my personal accounts.

I prefer using email for initial inquiries and scheduling only. You should be aware that all exchanged emails become a part of your legal record and I keep a copy in your chart. If you choose to email me content related to your therapy sessions, note that email is not completely secure or confidential. All emails are retained in the logs of your and my Internet service providers. While it is unlikely that someone will be looking at these logs, they are, in theory, available to be read by the system administrator(s) of the Internet service provider. If you want to send me things securely, the best way is to use the direct message feature on your Simple Practice secure client portal.

Charleston is getting smaller and smaller! If we run into each other in public, I will not approach you in order to maintain your confidentiality. If you choose to approach me, that’s OK, but let’s save any counseling related conversations for our next session.
